Access to dermatologists is becoming more limited, year after year, as we all become more aware of our health and taking better care of our skin. After many years in practice, doctors Touloei and Simzar observed steadily increasing wait times for patients desiring to be evaluated by a dermatologist. Although some patients need to be seen in person, most dermatological conditions can be treated virtually, making healthcare much more accessible. Patients no longer need to wait weeks or months to be treated, but rather can be treated in a matter of a few hours.

Currently, to see at dermatologist, most of us spend time:

- Checking with our insurance carrier to see who is in network

- Researching the dermatologist online for credentials, etc.

- Calling the office to make an appointment

- Waiting weeks or months to be seen

- Driving to the office

- Paying for parking

- Waiting in the office lobby

- Waiting in the exam room

- Spending a limited amount of time with the physician

- Driving to the pharmacy

- Waiting 20 minutes at the pharmacy

- If the prescription is not covered by insurance, there is additional wait time while the pharmacist calls the doctor's office to change the prescription

- Driving home

- Realizing we forgot to ask a few additional questions from our physician

- Calling the office with additional questions and leaving a message for the doctor, sometimes never hearing back

This highly inefficient system is not sustainable or practical. This is why Drs. Simzar and Touloei founded VelaMD.
